Follow the work between collection movements
Choose a route that shows the driver’s actual collection responsibilities. Identify which movements are road driving, what loading work follows and how the shift transitions to a receiving facility. The review should reflect actual activity instead of treating every stopped interval alike.
Keep collected volume, material sorting and service-completion records separate. The ELD discussion does not promise bin-level tracking or proof that every collection was completed.
Recycling collection evaluation worksheet
| Shift element | Question to examine |
|---|---|
| Route start | Correct driver, truck and device assignment? |
| Collection sequence | Driving and actual loading duties identifiable? |
| Receiving trip | Full road movement and waiting responsibilities included? |
| Shift end | Remaining work and next-driver assignment reviewed? |
Bring the actual truck configuration
The Factor PT30 manual documents vehicle selection and logs. Confirm that the proposed app and road-truck combination supports the required workflow, with individual engine and connector checks.
Frequent stops do not automatically establish a short-haul exception or authorize use of yard-move status on a public road. Have the carrier review the actual operation and permitted recording categories.
For the broader fleet discussion, see waste hauling. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Recycling collection questions
Is every short collection movement a yard move?
No. Apply the relevant rules and carrier policy to the actual location and movement.
Does a driver log prove that every bin was collected?
No. Service verification is a separate business process.
