Connect driving with the employee's other work
In a private fleet, the person making a delivery may have spent part of the shift loading products, working in a warehouse or servicing a customer. Factor ELD provides electronic driving records and duty-status log tools. The relevant demo should begin with the employee's work before departure and continue through the return.
Carrying your own products does not, by itself, settle ELD applicability. Have your compliance lead review the vehicles, trips and employee duties, then use that decision to plan the recording process.
Give occasional drivers a repeatable start
Factor ELD offers a driver app, fleet dashboard, onboarding guidance and 24/7 multilingual support. For occasional drivers, focus on account access, vehicle selection and the steps required before the truck moves. Name the office person responsible for reviewing questions and keeping the vehicle list current.
If employees move between truck types, check the hardware and mobile-device setup for each group. A spare truck should be included in the plan before it is needed for a delivery.
Bring these employee-driver scenarios to your demo
- Warehouse work followed by a customer delivery.
- An employee who drives only on selected days.
- A replacement truck or a shared vehicle.
- Log review by a supervisor who also has other responsibilities.
Tracking, dispatch and IFTA reports are additional Factor ELD topics to discuss if relevant. Confirm the plan's functions and keep payroll, inventory and customer-service requirements explicit.
Private fleet questions
Are private fleets automatically exempt from ELD requirements?
No. The business label alone does not determine the answer. Review the actual vehicle and operation using current rules and qualified guidance.
Can someone who mainly works in the warehouse use the system?
Discuss that employee's driving assignments and training needs with Factor ELD. The demonstration should show their own account, vehicle selection and the recording procedure approved for their workday.
