Check the work created by the urgent stop
Use a planned route and add one unscheduled customer request. Identify extra loading or collection work as well as driving. The fact that a part is urgently needed does not replace the carrier’s review of the driver’s actual record and assignment.
Keep part numbers, order priority, returns and customer receipt in their own business systems. The ELD proposal does not promise inventory lookup or automatic dispatch optimization.
Automotive parts delivery evaluation worksheet
| Assignment change | Question to review |
|---|---|
| Original route | Current driver, road vehicle and remaining work |
| Urgent request | Extra loading, travel and receiving tasks |
| Dispatch decision | Responsible person reviews the revised assignment |
| Return | Additional returns and closeout duties included |
Bring the actual truck configuration
Ask Factor ELD to demonstrate vehicle selection and log review using the PT30 documentation for the proposed version. Confirm each road-truck engine, connector and mobile-device combination.
Assess ELD applicability by the actual vehicle and operation. A parts-delivery business may use different vehicle classes; the company category does not make all of them identical.
For the broader fleet discussion, see delivery. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Automotive parts delivery questions
Does an urgent parts request allow the driver to exceed a limit?
No. Plan the revised assignment within the applicable requirements.
Will the ELD confirm a part’s availability or customer receipt?
Those are separate inventory and delivery functions, not established by the driver-log setup.
