Verify assignments when the departure wave changes
Use a sample operation with successive linehaul departures and a shared pool of tractors. Identify which driver takes each physical truck and how a late or replacement unit is assigned. A trailer or shipment identifier should not be mistaken for the connected road vehicle.
Keep parcel scans, sort completion and customer shipment visibility in their own systems. The ELD discussion does not promise automatic ecommerce order or warehouse integration.
Ecommerce linehaul evaluation worksheet
| Wave checkpoint | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Planned departure | Named driver and intended tractor |
| Replacement unit | Engine/connector fit and correct selected vehicle |
| Outgoing assignment | Earlier record and unresolved issue retained |
| Next departure | Incoming connection and complete driver history available |
Bring the actual truck configuration
The Factor PT30 manual describes selecting and changing a vehicle. Include a parked tractor change in the demo and confirm the exact app and device version used.
Ask the driver and office to inspect the resulting assignment together. Test different engine, cable and mobile-device configurations individually before accepting the wider tractor pool.
For the broader fleet discussion, see dry van. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Ecommerce linehaul questions
Does a new departure wave give a driver fresh available hours?
No. The driver’s earlier work and applicable limits still govern the assignment.
Will the ELD track every parcel automatically?
That is not established by the driver-log setup described here.
