ELD for Fertilizer Delivery Fleets

Factor ELD helps fertilizer delivery fleets prepare the vehicle and route information needed for an ELD discussion. Describe the actual cargo, driver tasks and truck configurations so product fit and any applicable rules can be reviewed separately.

Describe the load before assigning a rule

Use the actual product and shipment information rather than the broad label “fertilizer.” Identify the vehicle, route, driver work and any cargo classification that the carrier’s responsible reviewer needs. Different movements should not inherit the same exception decision merely because they serve agricultural customers.

An ELD proposal addresses the road vehicle and driver record. It does not classify hazardous material, supply shipping papers or measure the quantity or condition of fertilizer delivered.

Bring the actual truck configuration

Ask Factor ELD to demonstrate the selected vehicle and record review for the proposed configuration. The PT30 manual supports a vehicle-identity check; it does not settle cargo classification or exception eligibility.

Test a representative route before extending the setup to more vehicles. Keep any additional sensors, delivery measurement or dispatch integration separate in the written proposal and confirm that they are actually available.

For the broader fleet discussion, see agriculture. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Fertilizer delivery questions

Is every fertilizer delivery automatically treated as agricultural-exempt hauling?

No. The actual movement and every condition of an applicable provision need review.

Does Factor ELD classify the load as hazardous or non-hazardous?

The driver-log scope described here does not provide a cargo-classification determination. Use the carrier’s qualified process and source shipment information.
