ELD for Lumber Haulers

Factor ELD helps lumber haulers evaluate driver records around loading, securing a load and the delivery appointment. Include the work at both ends of the road trip when comparing an ELD setup for your trucks.

Account for preparation before the truck leaves

Use a sample load of finished lumber moving from a mill or distribution yard to a customer. Write down the driver’s preparation, loading involvement, securement tasks and departure before reviewing the road portion. This page addresses that delivery workflow; timber pickup from a forest landing belongs in a separate logging-truck discussion.

At the receiving end, include the driver’s actual waiting and unloading responsibilities. Do not use the delivery appointment or a signed receipt as a substitute for the driver’s activity record. Cargo securement checks remain part of their own operating procedure.

Bring the actual truck configuration

The Factor PT30 manual describes vehicle selection by number or VIN. Include that identification check in the trial, especially if a spare tractor is assigned after loading. Confirm the engine, connector, device and phone combination individually.

Ask the driver and office to review the same completed example day. Record unexplained gaps as issues to resolve before rollout. An ELD records the driver workflow; it does not certify lumber condition, load securement or delivery acceptance.

For the broader fleet discussion, see flatbed. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Lumber hauling questions

Does the ELD verify that lumber is secured correctly?

No. Keep cargo inspection and securement procedures separate from the ELD record review.

Can this worksheet replace a logging-truck trial?

A forest-landing operation has different handoff and connection questions. Use a representative trip for each operation instead of treating all wood cargo as one workflow.

Discuss your lumber hauling ELD setup

Contact Factor ELD to discuss ELD equipment and support for your lumber haulers. Bring the worksheet and representative vehicle details to a demo built around your operation.
