ELD for Mining Support Fleets

Factor ELD helps mining support fleets separate road-vehicle ELD needs from off-road equipment requirements. Start with a vehicle inventory so the proposed setup applies only to configurations that have been reviewed.

Define the road-vehicle scope before the demo

List the vehicles that travel on public roads, those used only within a site and any units with mixed duties. Identify the actual engine and connector for each. One successful highway-truck connection is not evidence that a specialized mining machine supports the same installation.

Use a sample support assignment to describe the driver’s preparation, travel and site duties. The ELD evaluation does not establish equipment productivity, payload, site authorization or mine-safety compliance.

Mixed-duty support vehicleDescribe both road travel and the driver’s site tasks
Off-road machineObtain a separate product-fit decision; do not assume support

Bring the actual truck configuration

Ask Factor ELD to identify the configurations it can support. For accepted road trucks, use vehicle selection and log review from the PT30 manual as practical demonstration tasks.

Have the carrier review rule applicability for the actual operation separately. Site access, road use and a vehicle’s commercial description are inputs to that review, not automatic conclusions.

For the broader fleet discussion, see mixed fleets. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Mining support questions

Can every mining vehicle use the same ELD kit?

Do not assume that. Specialized engines and connectors need an individual compatibility decision.

Does this page promise payload or mining-production measurement?

No. The scope is an evaluation of road-vehicle driver records.

Discuss your mining support ELD setup
