Review what changes when the crew relocates
Choose a planned move from one operating base to another. Identify which drivers and vehicles relocate, who assigns the trucks and whether the carrier’s reporting or account settings need review. A new jobsite location is not, by itself, an instruction to change a driver’s home-terminal setting.
Keep project schedules, excavation permissions and pipeline work documentation separate from the ELD configuration. The trial concerns the road vehicle and driver record.
Pipeline construction evaluation worksheet
| Change item | Question for the transition |
|---|---|
| Driver roster | Who needs training or an assignment change? |
| Road vehicles | Which engine, connector or mobile-device combinations differ? |
| Carrier settings | Which reporting settings are actually authorized to change? |
| Support ownership | Who handles a setup issue after the relocation? |
Bring the actual truck configuration
The Factor PT30 manual describes vehicle selection and log review. Use those tasks to verify the post-move assignments and access to earlier records.
Ask Factor ELD to confirm each proposed configuration and show any relevant settings in the current product. Do not assume an off-road machine or specialized construction unit is supported because a transport truck passed.
For the broader fleet discussion, see construction. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Pipeline construction questions
Should the home-terminal time reference change at every new jobsite?
Have the carrier determine the correct settings. A changed worksite alone does not establish a new reporting reference.
Does a road-truck trial cover pipeline construction machinery?
No. Keep specialized equipment outside the accepted scope until its fit is verified.
