ELD for Rail Drayage Fleets

Factor ELD helps rail drayage fleets evaluate driver records around equipment release and tractor reassignment. Bring a representative rail-terminal visit so the demonstration follows the actual waiting, work and road movement.

Plan the road assignment after rail equipment is released

Use a sample pickup in which equipment is not available at the originally planned time. Establish what the driver does while waiting and who reviews the next road assignment when release is confirmed. Keep the release event separate from the driver’s duty-status decision.

If another tractor takes the load, verify that physical truck and the driver’s earlier-record access. Rail shipment status, interchange documents and chassis condition need their own records.

Bring the actual truck configuration

Ask Factor ELD to demonstrate the PT30 vehicle-change and log-review workflow for the proposed version. Confirm each tractor engine, connector and mobile-device combination.

The ELD setup does not promise rail-terminal status feeds or verify interchange condition. Include any separate integration only after the provider confirms the exact available scope.

For the broader fleet discussion, see drayage. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Rail drayage questions

Does rail equipment release alone authorize immediate departure?

No. Review the driver’s actual record, vehicle and next assignment.

Will the ELD certify the interchange condition of a container or chassis?

No. Use the appropriate inspection and interchange documentation.
