ELD for Telecom Construction Fleets

Factor ELD helps telecom construction fleets review driver records when a crew moves equipment between sites. Bring the named driving roles and the road vehicle details so the ELD evaluation follows the crew’s actual assignments.

Name the driver before the crew moves

Use a sample day with a road truck carrying cable or construction equipment. Identify who drives to each location and what other work that person performs before the return trip. A crew roster does not by itself show which person drove a particular road segment.

Keep project progress, cable quantities and tower-work authorization in their own records. If the carrier claims a utility-service or other exception, review the actual vehicle use and the conditions in 49 CFR 395.1; being a telecom contractor alone does not settle the question.

Crew transitionQuestion for the demonstration
Morning assignmentWhich named driver selects the road truck?
Work at the siteWhat non-driving duties does that driver perform?
Move to another siteIs the driver unchanged, or is a supported handoff needed?
Return with equipmentAre earlier work and the return assignment reviewed together?

Bring the actual truck configuration

The Factor PT30 manual describes selecting the assigned vehicle and reviewing logs. Ask to demonstrate those tasks on the proposed version; verify any additional multi-driver handoff procedure explicitly.

Confirm the engine, connector and phone or tablet for each road-vehicle type. Do not infer compatibility with cable reels, tower equipment or a field-project platform from the truck’s ELD connection.

For the broader fleet discussion, see construction. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Telecom construction questions

Can a shared crew login identify every driver?

A shared crew label does not establish the individual driver’s record. Use carrier-authorized named access and verify handoffs.

Does the ELD manage telecom construction tasks?

The scope here is driver activity records. Project scheduling and field-work management require separately confirmed tools.
