Describe the route driver’s actual job
Choose a representative driver and list the work performed at customer stops. If the role includes handling returns, moving product or merchandising, include those tasks in the sample-day review. Do not assume that finishing the road movement ends the driver’s work.
Product counts, sales orders, deposits and customer inventory remain separate business records. The ELD discussion does not establish an inventory or route-sales integration.
Beverage distribution evaluation worksheet
| Activity | Information to establish |
|---|---|
| Depot work | Preparation, loading and assigned vehicle |
| Customer delivery | Actual handling and receiving duties |
| Additional store work | Any merchandising or other paid tasks performed |
| End of route | Returns and closeout work before relief from duty |
Bring the actual truck configuration
Use the vehicle-selection and record-review tasks in the Factor PT30 manual for the proposed version. Confirm the engine, connector and mobile device for each truck configuration.
If a driver-salesperson or other special provision is claimed, have the carrier check the exact role and all relevant conditions. A job title or beverage cargo label does not settle applicability.
For the broader fleet discussion, see food & beverage distribution. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Beverage distribution questions
Does merchandising disappear from the review because it is not driving?
Include actual work in the carrier’s record assessment under the applicable rules.
Will the ELD reconcile cases, returns or deposits?
That capability is not part of the driver-log scope described here.
