ELD for Food-Grade Tanker Fleets

Factor ELD helps food-grade tanker fleets review driver records on plant-to-plant liquid shipments. Bring a trip that includes washout, loading release and a tractor handoff so the ELD discussion follows the complete assignment.

Keep the wash ticket separate from the driver record

Use an interplant shipment of a food liquid, such as edible oil, rather than a farm milk-collection route. Identify the driver’s work at the wash facility, the wait for loading release and any tractor change before the next departure. The tanker’s release paperwork and the driver’s activity record answer different questions.

Ask who remains responsible for the vehicle while it waits and who performs preparation or inspection tasks. Do not turn a washout receipt into an automatic off-duty period. The carrier should classify the driver’s actual activities under the applicable rules.

Bring the actual truck configuration

For the proposed product version, ask Factor ELD to demonstrate the vehicle selection and log review described in the PT30 manual. Confirm the road tractor’s engine, connector and mobile-device combination before ordering.

Include a tractor substitution after washout in the trial. Verify that the driver selects the correct connected vehicle and can review earlier records. ELD equipment does not certify tank cleanliness, food safety, temperature or product acceptance.

For the broader fleet discussion, see tanker. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Food-grade tanker questions

Does the ELD replace a wash certificate?

No. Cleaning and food-safety records remain separate from driver activity records.

Is this the same evaluation as farm milk collection?

No. This exercise follows an interplant shipment and loading-release handoff. A repeated farm-pickup route needs its own collection-run review.
