Define which records the ELD discussion covers
Use a sample delivery and list the driver’s actual preparation, travel, waiting and closeout duties. Then identify the shipment-control information held elsewhere. The ELD evaluation should not silently take ownership of cargo security, temperature or chain-of-custody obligations.
No HIPAA, FDA, pharmaceutical-handling certification or validated cold-chain capability is claimed here. Any such requirement needs its own product evidence and qualified review.
Pharmaceutical transport evaluation worksheet
| Record area | Question to assign |
|---|---|
| Driver identity and duty record | Which authorized driver and road vehicle perform the work? |
| Shipment custody | Which separate process records custody and receipt? |
| Temperature or product condition | Which verified equipment and records establish it? |
| Office access | Who needs driver records and what access is appropriate? |
Bring the actual truck configuration
Use the PT30 vehicle-selection and log-review tasks as demonstration topics for the proposed version. Confirm truck engine, connector and mobile-device fit individually.
Ask Factor ELD to state the supported driver-log scope in the proposal. Keep unverified regulated-cargo integrations outside that scope rather than assuming a fleet platform certifies the whole operation.
For the broader fleet discussion, see refrigerated. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.
Pharmaceutical transport questions
Does an ELD installation make the transport operation HIPAA- or FDA-compliant?
No such claim is made. Regulatory and cargo-specific requirements need separate assessment and evidence.
Should every shipment participant receive driver-log access?
Use the carrier’s authorized access policy and disclose only the records each role is entitled to receive.
