ELD for Produce Haulers

Factor ELD helps produce haulers evaluate ELD records when pickup locations or loading plans change. Bring one planned load and a realistic change to it so the driver and office can review the proposed workflow together.

Plan the response to a changed loading point

Use a sample produce load with a named origin and receiving appointment. Then introduce one operational change: the loading point moves, a pickup is delayed or another stop is added. Establish who communicates the change and who reviews the driver’s resulting assignment.

The ELD record should represent actual driving and work rather than the original appointment plan. Keep product temperature and quality documentation separate; the driver log does not establish the condition of the produce.

Bring the actual truck configuration

The Factor PT30 manual provides a documented vehicle-selection and log-review workflow. Ask to see the exact proposed version, then check whether a replacement tractor can be identified correctly without losing access to earlier records.

Confirm hardware fit for each materially different truck and mobile device. Have the carrier evaluate any commodity-related exception using the current rule and facts of the movement; this page does not assign an exception to all produce loads.

For the broader fleet discussion, see refrigerated. Use the ELD rollout checklist to assign training and review responsibilities, and check ELD applicability for the actual operation.

Produce hauling questions

Does a delayed produce load automatically extend the driver’s hours?

No. Review the actual assignment and applicable provisions; customer delay is not general permission to exceed a limit.

Is temperature monitoring included simply because the fleet hauls produce?

No. Ask about any separate sensor and plan requirements, and keep them distinct from the ELD proposal.
