How to compare devices on the official list
- Start with vehicle, driver-device, transfer, support, export, and contract requirements—not a popularity ranking.
- For each candidate, save the exact FMCSA device name, hardware model, software version, registration ID, provider, self-certification date, and active status.
- Remove revoked or mismatched versions and any candidate without written vehicle/cable compatibility.
- Pilot the same driver, roadside, administrator, offline, and export tasks.
- Normalize dated quotes to one term and score only evidence that belongs to the exact product/plan.
