How to Read the FMCSA ELD List Before Buying

The FMCSA list identifies manufacturer-self-certified devices. Use the exact entry to check a proposed ELD; the list does not rank or endorse products.

Match four identifiers

  1. Device name and provider.
  2. Hardware model.
  3. Software version or version range.
  4. ELD identifier.

A familiar brand name or matching hardware case is not enough. Different software providers can use similar hardware, and one provider may list more than one model.

Example: Factor PT30

The list checked on September 14, 2026 shows FACTOR ELD / PT30 / 1.1.0 or higher / FTR321 under HOST ELD LLC. Factor FRS has a separate entry. The PT30 listing describes web-service and email transfer; read the entry and manual for the actual model.

Check status again before deployment

Review the registered and revoked lists when selecting a product and before rolling it out. Save the identification details with the fleet’s device records. If a status changes, follow the current official notice for that device.

What the list cannot answer

Registration does not establish current prices, support hours, Canadian certification, installation availability or comparative reliability. Those need separate product and commercial evidence.
